Environment & Sustainability

Sustainability is an integral part of our daily actions. Through the conscious use of resources, regional partnerships and environmentally friendly measures, we contribute to protecting our environment – today and for future generations. We invite you to support us in this – whether through conscious use of resources or new ideas you share with us.

Measures implemented so far:

• Since autumn 2025 we have been heating exclusively with district heating (mainly biomass) and using 100% certified green electricity

• Consistently lowering the heating in unoccupied floors/rooms, no outdoor heating, and heat recovery in ventilation and dishwashers.

• Our 24/7 shop in the lobby replaces classic minibars with their high energy consumption. Environmentally friendly and practical.
• *
• To continuously reduce our water consumption, we have firmly anchored the switch to highly efficient fittings (max. 9 l shower / 6 l washbasin / 12 l bathtub fittings) in our environmental programme for all new purchases. Urinals are flushed only as needed to avoid unnecessary water consumption from continuous flushing. Our toilets use flush-stop or dual-flush systems. For new purchases we rely on the highest saving standards of ≤ 4.5 litres per flush.

• By changing towels and bed linen as needed, we significantly reduce water consumption and the use of cleaning products.

• We avoid packaging by using bulk containers and reusable crates for bread, vegetables and meat. Single-portion packs are replaced as far as possible. Where disposable packaging is unavoidable, we opt for sustainable alternatives made from renewable raw materials.

• We rely on return systems instead of mountains of waste. Cleaning product canisters go back for refilling, and 90% of our drinks come from reusable containers or draught systems.

• Appropriate portions, flexible buffet systems and seminar menu pre-orders minimise waste. We are happy to pack leftovers for our guests to take home.

• To reduce single-use products, slippers and toiletries are only available on request. We use shower gel and shampoo dispensers instead of single-use bottles and do without capsule coffee machines in the rooms.

• We reward climate-friendly arrival by public transport with a free welcome drink.
• *
• Free use of the two EV charging stations throughout your stay.
• *
• Free bike rental, plenty of parking spaces and a free e-bike charging station.

• All our office paper (printer, invoices etc.) carries an eco-label. This guarantees the highest environmental standards in production and disposal.

• In our 12 seminar rooms we consistently use environmentally friendly working materials. Our stationery, such as flipchart and pinboard paper as well as the seminar notepads, also carries recognised eco-labels.

• With our cleaning product partner Hollu (EU Ecolabel, Austrian Ecolabel, EMAS) we rely almost exclusively on the ecological Hollueco range. Automatic dosing systems and the purchase of concentrates in returnable bulk containers prevent waste.

• We use the mechanical power of microfibre cloths and try to minimise chemical cleaning agents as far as possible. Chemical drain cleaners, toilet blocks, cistern additives and fabric softeners are strictly prohibited.

• We use 100% free-range eggs and avoid any liquid or dried egg products.
• *
• Food imitations (especially imitation cheese, imitation ham and imitation whipped cream) are not used.
• *
• We place vegetarian and vegan dishes prominently on the menu, including a "climate plate" with organic, regional or Fairtrade main ingredients.

• Sourced directly from a regional farmer: sprouts, potatoes, grape juice and some wines.
